Our Story
My name is Justin Smith, and I am raising funds for my wife, Amy, and our family. Since February 2025, our lives have been turned upside down by Amy’s diagnosis of Chiari Malformation. By last summer, she was unable to do much more than move from her bed to a chair, and in August, she was hospitalized for a week due to stroke-like symptoms that have only worsened.
The Current Struggle
Currently, our household includes myself, Amy, our daughter Madison, and Amy’s mother, Laurie. However, our family extends beyond these walls to include our other children—Chase, Evan, and Zoey—who are all part of the heart of this home.
We are currently uninsured, and Texas has denied emergency Medicaid for Amy. This has left us in a desperate position; we are on the verge of losing our rental home and are searching for a more affordable place to live that can accommodate our family. Up until Amy's latest hospitalization, we managed to scrape by with help from family, but we are now facing overwhelming medical and household bills.

I have become the primary caretaker for Amy while balancing gig work to make ends meet. My ability to work is limited because I am the sole driver for the family, ensuring Madison gets to school and Laurie gets to work.
