My Aunt Amy is one of the most loving and caring individuals I know. She cares deeply for both her family and friends, always putting others first and making everyone feel special. She is always there for people when they need her most—if she can be there, she will be. Family means everything to her, and she never misses a holiday, especially Christmas, always arriving with thoughtful gifts and homemade treats. She has a gift for listening and is just a phone call away, day or night. As her niece, I can say she has saved my life and has always been there for me and so many others in our family and circle of friends. Aunt Amy means the world to everyone who knows her, and her kindness and generosity have touched countless lives.
Earlier this week, Aunt Amy fell while getting ready for work and stopped breathing. My Uncle Wesley rushed her to the hospital, where she was airlifted to Butterworth Hospital in Grand Rapids. After many tests, doctors found fluid on her brain and dangerously low oxygen levels, which caused her to pass out. She spent several days in the hospital, undergoing more tests and starting new treatments. She is now home, but she must use a CPAP machine, wear a heart monitor, and follow strict instructions from her doctors. She cannot return to work yet and faces a long road of appointments and recovery ahead.
The funds raised will help cover her health insurance deductible, copays for medications and appointments, hospital bills, the cost of the air lift, lost wages while she recovers, and any new medical devices she needs. Anyone who knows my aunt knows she would be there in a heartbeat for anyone in need. Now it's our turn to be there for her. Please donate to the Amy Jo Simpson Cause—any amount helps show her how much we appreciate all she's done for others. She needs us now.
