Our hearts are shattered as we navigate through the loss of Amontaye Schmidt, who tragically died on Friday, October 10, 2025, after battling with mental illness.

Amontaye was a kind, loving 19-year-old, who was such a sweetheart. He will be so deeply missed by his grandparents who raised him, Scott (Woody) and Mary Wood, brother Tre'Shon Schmidt, mother Katie Schmidt, and beloved girlfriend Alice, along with many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.

This family has helped so many through the years and they are in need of our help now. Mary has battled stage 4 lung cancer for the last three years and Woody is disabled and primarily confined to their home.

Please consider donating to this fund to assist them with the unexpected expenses they will incur. All money will go directly to Mary and Woody.

Funeral arrangements are pending, but are tentatively scheduled for Saturday, October 25th at 11:00 AM, Eden Prairie United Methodist Church. Full details coming once everything is finalized.
