Hi, my name is Debbie. Technically, I’m Amira’s ex mother-in-law — but in truth, she will always be my daughter.
Amira has been fighting for her life since she was a child.
Her early years were marked by neglect, violence, and abuse. As a young teenager, she endured a violent attack so extreme it left her with additional life-threatening injuries — trauma no one should ever have to carry.
Out of respect and compassion, I won’t share every detail here, because the truth is more than anyone needs to know. What matters is this: she has faced challenges most of us could never imagine, and despite it all, she is still fighting. And right now, she urgently needs our support.
The long-term effects of her past have caused severe skeletal complications: her ribs are growing into her heart and lungs, her lower ribs into her hips, and her spine can no longer support her.
She did consider surgery a few years ago, but every doctor refused — not because of cost, but because the risk of her dying on the operating table was so high. No one was willing to take that chance.
Doctors never expected her to live past 30. She is now 32 — still here, still fighting, every single day. But due to the constant pressure her ribs place on her heart and lungs doctors don’t know how many more years she has, but what we do know is that right now she deserves time, dignity, and support — and together we can give her that.
Through all of this, her one constant has been Bam — her beloved dog.
He wasn’t “just” a pet. He was her helper, her lifeline, her best friend, the only unconditional love she has felt completely.
When she fell, he offered his collar and pulled her up.
When she dropped something and the pain was too much to bend, he picked it up and gave it to her — without ever being taught.
When the agony of stairs was too great, he stood by her and pulled her up step by step.
When she was too weary and had only tears left, he would lay his head on her shoulder and remind her she was not alone.
He gave her freedom, safety, and love.
But recently Bam was diagnosed with cancer. Surgery only made things worse. Now, the heartbreaking reality is that on Monday, he must be put to sleep.
Amira is devastated. She is losing not only her best friend, but her partner in daily survival. The heartbreak is tangible. She lives alone, making this loss even more devastating. We are working on relocating her to have more support, but right now, she needs help to cope with the immediate crisis.
Amira has endured more pain than most of us can imagine, yet she continues to fight on. She remains the most caring, selfless, and beautiful woman I have ever met, and I am privileged to call her my daughter — even if technically I am her ex mother-in-law. Titles don’t matter; love does.
We are raising £4,000 to:
Cover the costs of Bam’s surgery, euthanasia, and cremation.
Give Amira a small financial cushion so she can stay at home, grieve, and begin to adjust to life without him.
Support her relocation so she can have the care and stability she needs.
I love this woman so much. If you can help lift even a little of the weight she is carrying right now, it would mean the world — to me, and to her.
Every donation — big or small — helps.
Please share this page so others can help too.
Let’s give Amira the gift of time, dignity, and love as she says goodbye to her lifeline.
