Our dear Amber has recently been facing a serious and unexpected health battle.

After experiencing significant pain and spending over a week in the hospital, Amber has been diagnosed with a rare autoimmune condition that is causing her body to attack her own organs, leading to severe inflammation and significant impact on her liver. She is also facing additional health complications that doctors are continuing to investigate and monitor closely.

Doctors have shared that the scarring found on her liver indicates this has likely been developing for quite some time, and her recent pregnancy may have triggered the autoimmune condition to intensify rapidly.

Amber and Josh are also caring for their precious 4-month-old son, Ryatt, during this incredibly challenging season. As new parents, this should be a time filled with joy and bonding, but instead they are navigating hospital stays, specialists, and the uncertainty of what lies ahead.

Amber has undergone a liver biopsy and is currently receiving extensive testing on her other organs. Preliminary results are expected in the coming weeks. She is being closely monitored by a team of specialists, and nurses are visiting daily so she can remain at home with sweet Ryatt while still receiving the medical care she needs. Her treatment plan includes significant medications, frequent appointments, and ongoing testing.

For years, Amber has dedicated her life to advocating for and supporting individuals with special needs—helping them live with dignity, health, joy, and happiness. She has spent so much of her life caring for others with compassion and selflessness. Now, it is our turn to care for her.

Before Amber became ill, Josh had been completing training and had secured a new role in Kamloops. With Amber’s sudden health crisis, many unknowns now surround what work and daily life will look like for their family moving forward.

We are starting this GoFundMe to help ease some of the financial burden they are now carrying. Funds will help cover expensive life-saving medications that are not fully covered, medical expenses, hospital stays, travel for appointments, and lost workdays for Josh. Support will also help with practical day-to-day needs such as prepared healthy meals recommended by dieticians, occasional house cleaning, transportation like Ubers for appointments and errands when Amber needs access to their only vehicle, and additional care support during the four days each week that Josh is working away from home.

Josh has been an incredible husband and father—stepping in wholeheartedly to care for Amber, their son, and the many daily responsibilities that come with this season. Their strength, faith, and love for one another have been inspiring, but they should not have to carry this burden alone.
