On February 18, 2026, 22 year old Amber and her friend were on their way to a friend’s home when they were struck head-on by another driver, whose condition still remains under investigation. In an instant, our lives were changed forever. Tragically, Amber was the only one who lost her life that night.
Amber was a cherished daughter, sister, granddaughter, girlfriend and best friend. She was the kind of person who lit up every room she walked into. Her smile was contagious, her heart was generous, and she always put others before herself. She had a way of making everyone feel seen, valued, and loved.
Amber was set to graduate from Rutgers University this year with her bachelor’s degree in Science. She worked incredibly hard toward her goals and had dreams of building a meaningful career where she could make a difference in the world. She had so much life ahead of her, so many plans, ambitions, and milestones yet to reach. That future was taken far too soon.
Daniel Pais, Amber's father, proudly serves as our brother in blue at the Hudson County Department of Corrections. In that line of duty, families often live with the constant hope and prayer that their loved one in uniform returns home safely at the end of each shift. We think about the dangers they face and the risks they take to protect others. No one ever imagines that the unthinkable could happen to the loved ones waiting at home. This unimaginable loss is a heartbreak no family should ever have to endure.
As her family faces this unimaginable loss, we are asking for support to help ease on any unexpected burdens that come with such a tragic loss. During this heartbreaking time, the family should be able to focus on grieving and honoring Amber’s beautiful life.
Any donation, no matter the amount, will make a difference. If you are unable to give, please consider sharing this page and keeping Amber’s family in your prayers.
Thank you for your love and support. Amber will forever live on in our hearts.
