Amber Smith is my sister-in-law, and she has been bravely fighting metastatic (stage 4) breast cancer for the past couple of years. Despite her strength and determination, her cancer has continued to progress despite every treatment available to her. Amber and her husband are raising three wonderful school-aged daughters who have shown incredible resilience and love through this journey. Their eldest daughter has even stepped up to help care for her younger sisters, showing a maturity and compassion beyond her years, something no child should have to develop because of circumstances like these.
Amber worked for as long as she possibly could, but as her cancer progressed, she became too weak to continue. Losing that income has added yet another layer of difficulty to an already overwhelming situation, placing even more pressure on a family fighting to stay afloat.
Amber is the kind of person who makes every room warmer. She has always been the first to offer help, the first to pray with someone who is hurting, and the first to show up, never expecting anything in return. Now her family is facing a reality no family should have to carry alone. The financial strain has become overwhelming. Medical bills, their mortgage, and basic everyday expenses have piled up beyond what they can manage. They are doing everything they can, but without support, they simply cannot keep their heads above water.
What breaks our hearts the most is that Amber wants to continue fighting. She wants more time with her girls, more mornings, more hugs, more memories, yet the rising costs of treatment threaten her ability to keep going. Their faith and closeness as a family have helped them endure, but the emotional and financial burdens are taking a heavy toll.
Recently, they shared that they do not know how much more emotional turmoil they can bear. Hearing that from a family who has always tried to stay hopeful is devastating. While we trust God completely, we also know that we are called to lift one another up in times like this. Helping this family means giving Amber the chance to keep receiving her treatments, stay in her home, and spend whatever time she has left surrounded by stability, comfort, and peace, not fear and financial stress.
If you feel moved to help, please know that every donation, no matter the amount, truly makes a difference. Your support will give Amber and her family something priceless right now: time, hope, and the ability to focus on what matters most. If you are unable to donate, sharing this fundraiser means more than you know.
Thank you for taking the time to read Amber's story and for caring enough to help lighten the load of a family walking through the hardest season of their lives.
