Support for Amarah Kendall
The worst words a parent could ever hear...Your child has cancer. Not only the words "cancer" but a very rare, agressive cancer. It started out with Amarah being the average active young lady skating with her friends at a local skating rink. She noticed that her left upper thigh was starting to hurt and the family put it off with some excessive activity. Ibuprofen and take it easy was the plan. Unfortunately, that didn't work. It appeared the area was becoming swollen so, off to the doctor they went. Physical therapy was ordered with no avail with the pain increasing. They then ordered a CAT scan noting some "inflammation" in the area. From there, many tests were ordered and family was taken to Seattle Children's Hospital. Amarah was diagnosed with a malignant peripheral nerve sheath tumor. There are 2 options at this point. Either she has the tumor removed along with most of the muscle that controls her range of motion on the lower leg a large part of her femur and sciatic nerve. She would end up with no feeling, and a terrible limp. Not able to use her foot, and that surgery would also mean plastic surgery, and more surgeries down the road to make sure her other leg doesn't grow longer than the affected leg. The other option is amputation just below her hip. Her next step is a biopsy of her pelvic lymph nodes on the affected side then surgery. We are praying the lymph nodes are not affected so she doesn't have to have more extensive surgery or radiation or chemo.
Please help us raise money for Amarah and her family as they go through this painful process of healing. All proceeds go directly towards the mounting medical bills. ANY funds is greatly appreciated! Prayers are also needed!
