If you’ve ever met Josh, Susie, or their sweet children, you know they are the kind of family who is always there for others. Today, they need us. Their 10-year-old daughter, Alivia “Livi” Miller, is a vibrant, active, softball-loving kid who should be spending her summer on the ball field with her teammates. Instead, she is beginning the fight of her life after being diagnosed with osteosarcoma, a rare and aggressive bone cancer. The diagnosis came unexpectedly. After sustaining a contact injury in basketball, Livi developed a lump and began walking with a limp. Concerned, Josh and Susie took her to the doctor, expecting perhaps a sports injury. What they received instead was devastating news: bone cancer.
In the coming months, Livi will face intensive chemotherapy treatments, countless medical appointments, hospital stays, and eventually surgery to remove the tumor. While she courageously battles cancer, her family will be navigating the emotional, physical, and financial challenges that come with it. Josh serves our community dedicating his life to protecting and helping others. Susie is a beloved teacher at Our Lady of the Lakes Catholic School, where she pours her heart into caring for and educating children every day. Together, they have always been the first to lend a helping hand. In fact, Josh has donated bone marrow not once, but twice—saving a life through his incredible generosity and selflessness. Now it’s our turn to help them.
As Josh and Susie balance work, caring for Livi, supporting her brother Lincoln, traveling to treatments, and facing the uncertainty ahead, we want to ease the tremendous financial burden this diagnosis brings. Medical expenses, travel costs, time away from work, meals, and countless unforeseen expenses will quickly add up. Please consider any amount and share this—to keep Josh and Susie with Livi. Thank you for your prayers and continued support. #LiviStrong
