My name is Millie, and we are raising funds to support my brother, Alex, medical costs.

Alex went traveling on Sunday for a 10 week adventure, which quickly turned in to a nightmare. As he was making his way to his first hostel from the airport he was involved in a motorcycle accident which has left him with injuries to his leg, arm and head which we should learn more about soon. He’s currently undergoing treatment in Sri Lanka and his partner, Helen, is with him being the greatest support to him.

Although Alex had travel insurance and had rung the insurance company prior to his travel to check and update his cover, when the claim was submitted, we were devastated to learn that his policy only covered motorbikes up to 125cc... Alex had rented a 250cc bike, which means none of his medical expenses or repatriation costs are eligible for coverage.

Alex has held a full motorcycle licence for around 9 years and had even bought international driving permits.

We are fund raising to try and cover some of the cost for getting him stable and bring him home. We appreciate anything you can give however small it’s all appreciated.

We are hoping that he can make a good recovery, but the extent of his injuries and lasting impact at this point is unknown.
