Helping Alex, Darnell, Isaiah, and Elijah Find Their Way Forward

Alex has been a friend of mine since high school. We've kept in contact and share many memories together. This past week, Alex and his three sons, Darnell (24), Isaiah (20), and Elijah (12), were faced with the sudden loss of his wife, Ranota, who was just 45 years old.

On Monday night, Ranota went to bed with their youngest son, Elijah, sleeping beside her. The next morning, Alex found her unresponsive. He immediately called 911 and began CPR until EMTs arrived. After a CT scan at the hospital, doctors discovered that Ranota, despite being otherwise healthy, had undiagnosed blood clots in her leg. One of the clots had traveled to her lung, blocking a major artery and she went into cardiac arrest. Medical staff worked tirelessly all day to save her, but on Tuesday, November 18, at 5:15 PM, life support was removed. She passed peacefully just months from her 46th birthday.

Now, Alex is the sole provider for his three boys, and the costs of daily living (food, rent, and basic necessities) have quickly added up. Additionally, there are unexpected financial and medical expenses related to Ranota’s passing.
