In Loving Memory of Shauna Marie Remlin, Wife, Mother, lover of animals (Age 25)
It is with unimaginable heartbreak that we share the sudden passing of Shauna Marie Remlin, age 25, due to unexpected complications related to her thyroid. Shauna leaves behind her devoted husband, Aleks Remlin, and their beautiful 4-year-old daughter, Lelyah—the center of her world. Shauna was a loving wife, mother, daughter-in-law to Brenda and Terry Remlin, granddaughter to Jimmy and Karen Olsen, sister to Devon McDermott, and a cherished niece, cousin, and friend to many. She also had a “second mom,” Sue Peterson, who became a constant source of love and guidance in her life. Shauna loved her family fiercely, and while she cherished everyone close to her, she found her greatest peace among animals, especially horses at Another Farm, where she truly felt at home. Shauna faced hardship early in life but achieved so much against so many odds, losing her mother at a young age and growing up in foster care. One of her greatest fears was leaving her own daughter behind, a fear that has heartbreakingly come true. Despite this, Shauna was resilient, determined, and deeply committed to building a loving, stable life for her family. She loved the simple, meaningful joys of life: baking homemade bread and turnovers, jarring vegetables, collecting eggs from her chickens, and sitting down to dinner with her family every night. At just 18 years old, Shauna worked on a farm in exchange for a place to stay, learning independence and responsibility at a young age. The farm became her sanctuary. Shauna had a special bond with a pony named Rooney, whom she began training as a foal. Rooney’s mother had been saved from slaughter at just three years old, and Rooney was a surprise birth who fought his way into the world. Shauna poured her heart into him, and eventually her daughter rode him as well. When migraines or stress overwhelmed her, Shauna would return to the farm, work with Rooney, and find peace. Shauna later met her “knight in shining armor,” Aleks. Together they built a life rooted in love and hard work. They married, welcomed their daughter Lelyah, and proudly purchased their first home. Aleks worked long hours while Shauna stayed home with Lelyah and continued her work at the farm, wanting her daughter to grow up surrounded by the same healing, grounded farm life she cherished. When Lelyah was old enough for daycare and time with grandparents, Shauna eagerly earned her Certified Nurse Aide (CNA) certificate at The Academy of Medical Training. Most recently, Shauna became an important team member at All About You! Home Care Services, where she was known for her strong work ethic and dedication as a Medical Records Specialist. She took pride in contributing financially alongside Aleks to support their family. Their home was full of life:12 chickens, All named after legendary country artists, two dogs, Ranger and Mo, two cats, Mack and Nemo , two rabbits, Hop and Oreo, building their own animal sanctuary filled with love, warmth, and purpose. Shauna was so proud of her hard work. When she received her paychecks from both her full-time job and her part-time farm work, she immediately bought and wrapped Christmas gifts for her family, excited that this year they would be able to pay their bills and celebrate a little extra. Now, Aleks has lost his wife and life partner, and Lelyah has lost her mother. The family is facing not only profound grief, but also the sudden loss of Shauna’s income. Explaining to a four-year-old that her mommy is now in heaven is a pain no family should ever endure. We are asking our community to come together to support Aleks and Lelyah during this unimaginable time. Funds raised will help cover immediate living expenses, household bills, and provide Aleks the time and space to grieve while caring for his daughter, especially during the Christmas season and the months ahead. Shauna was bright, beautiful, hardworking, and deeply loved. We are incredibly proud of how far she came in her short 25 years, and we are devastated by her passing. Shauna, we know you are now in your mother’s arms. Fly high, our angel. We will wrap our love and generosity around the beautiful family you created and ensure they are never alone. We promise that Lelyah will continue to know the healing magic of horses, grow up alongside Rooney, and always feel her mother’s love surrounding her. Thank you for any support you are able to give through donations, shares, and prayers as this young family navigates the unimaginable.
