This is Alana’s Aunt writing on behalf of her immediate family, who are all by her side at this time. Alana is a 29-year-old who is about two months pregnant with her second child, and her son is just over a year old. Recently, Alana suffered a knee injury that led to a blood clot in her leg. Tragically, this developed into a pulmonary embolism—a blood clot in the lung—which is a life-threatening situation. She was admitted to the hospital, where she experienced cardiac arrest and required CPR. Alana was taken urgently for a procedure and has been unresponsive ever since.

Alana’s significant other, her young son, three sisters, mother, stepfather, grandparents, and many others have been at the hospital constantly, hoping and praying for her recovery. As her aunt, I created this page from South Dakota as a way to do something to help this family in need. It’s difficult feeling so helpless being so far away, but we want to support Alana and her loved ones in any way we can.
