TSgt Nathan Roberts, USAF, is currently on orders and his wife was recently diagnosed with cancer. She has already had surgery and has more treatment coming. Outlook for survival is looking great, but she still has a long road to recovery. The issue here is they are supposed to be covered by TRICARE however TSgt Nathan Roberts is a guardsman and they had other insurance prior to taking orders and receiving TRICARE. Because the primary insurance was not dropped TRICARE will only act as a secondary insurance and TSgt Nathan Roberts is required to pay a $4,000 deductible before TRICARE will start covering her treatment. His Chief Master Sergeant, Rob Bailey, USAF, shared this story and made phone calls to confirm this information to be correct.

From Chief Master Sergeant Rob Bailey - "The Airman we are trying to help is one of my highest and most dedicated performers in the squadron. He currently serves as our Additional Duty First Sergeant, where he is charged with taking care of all members within our squadron. I am looking at all avenues to take care of him."
