Support for Aimee with cancer surgery
Donation protected
Aimee’s life has recently been shaken up (again!)
She has been diagnosed with malignant skin cancer and requires surgery to remove a lesion on her forehead.
Unfortunately, this surgery is not completely covered under Medicare (more information on this below)
Aimee is a fighter, an amazingly strong woman who seems to overcome every hurdle life throws at her. She lost her job at a gym when Covid hit in 2020. Focused on seeing the positive side of a bad situation she decided to make a BIG CHANGE in her life, moving to the Blue Mountains! Being a passionate canyoner and outdoors person, she completed a Certificate 3 and 4 in Outdoor Leadership at TAFE, hoping to work as a Guide. Since then, as we all know, Covid and then floods and National Park closures have made guiding work unobtainable for her. Aimee was unemployed for 1.5 years. Fortunately, she is now working in an office and an extra day at a winery. Her hope is that summer will bring canyoning guiding work her way as this is where her heart is! She is also hoping to have recovered by then from her cancer surgery and treatment.
Despite everything that life has thrown at her these past couple of years, Aimee is out there everyday making the most of her life, showcasing her adventures (which luckily do not cost much as nature is free!) to her friends and followers on social media! We can’t help but love her, although I can attest to her wonderful and caring personality too.
Aimee is not one to ask for help, even though she needs it. I have set this up because what she needs is not much and will make a huge difference in her life at the moment. If you can afford to donate anything, even $5 instead of a coffee, it will go a long way.
The objective is to help Aimee with the cost of surgery and recovery, so she can take time off work and concentrate on getting better without having to worry about costly bills and more debt.
The surgery costs $2,747.85 and the Medicare rebate is only $514.70. I have attached a copy of the quote. Unfortunately, the surgery Aimee requires is classified as plastic surgery and not covered under Medicare even though that is the only way she can have it removed. The skin cancer is touching a nerve on her forehead and has to be removed by a plastic surgeon instead of a skin clinic. The medical term / diagnosis is basal cell carcinoma with focal perineural invasion.
