My husband has been battling serious health issues for many years. In January 2018 and again in 2020, he underwent major surgery for an abdominal aorta aneurysm, followed by repeated hospital stays every two years to have additional stents placed. In 2024, he was scheduled for heart surgery, but the procedure was stopped when doctors discovered a urinary tract infection. Further tests revealed a blockage in his heart, and since then, he has been in and out of the hospital, often suffering from persistent fevers.
As his condition worsened, he was diagnosed with Q fever and required daily IV antibiotics at home for two months. Despite ongoing treatment, his fever continued, and in December 2025, he was admitted to the hospital with a thoracic aortic abscess and graft infection. The doctors explained that the infection in his graft and stent would require a heart surgery to remove the bacteria, but his heart is now too weak to handle such a procedure. They told us there were two options: continue with ER visits and long-term antibiotics, which would not resolve the infection, or choose hospice care so he could be cared for at home. We chose hospice, hoping to give him comfort and dignity in this difficult time.
I have been working as a caregiver, trying to balance my job with caring for him, visiting him in the hospital, and managing our household. The financial strain has been immense, with mounting medical bills, parking tickets, and overdue rent. In late December, I stopped working to become his full-time caregiver as his health declined further. Now, my husband is in hospice care, and I am struggling to pay our rent and bills. The hardship has been overwhelming, but I am doing everything I can to support him and keep our home. Any financial support during this time would mean the world to us and help provide stability and comfort as we face these challenges together. Thank you from the bottom of my heart to everyone who can help. May God bless you all.
