I work at a special education high school for students with all types of moderate to severe disabilities. When I first started, the transition was not easy, but Adonis—my first student—made it so much simpler. Adonis was nonverbal and lived with both autism and epilepsy, yet he was the happiest kid, always smiling no matter what he went through. He was only 16, but he taught me to be grateful for everything I had. His laughter could brighten anyone’s day, and his spirit touched everyone around him.
Adonis was the only student who had been with me all three years I’ve been teaching. Tragically, Adonis passed away suddenly, and losing him has hurt so many in our school community. He leaves behind a twin brother and a mother who are now facing unimaginable grief. We want to make sure that during this tough time, financial worries are not something else they have to carry.
If you’re able, please consider supporting Adonis’s family. Your kindness will help them focus on healing and honoring his memory, rather than worrying about costs. Thank you for any support you can give.
