Support for Adie Davis & Family

The outpouring of love for Adie, Scott, & Lauren Davis over the last week has been amazing to witness. It is evident the number of lives they have touched. So many individuals have reached out, asking how they can support the Davis family throughout this difficult time.

What happened?

A week after turning 13 years old, Adie’s doctor ordered an MRI because she was having consistent, painful headaches that was causing her to feel sick. The MRI revealed a 5cm brain tumor in the back of her head. Within 48 hours of finding the brain tumor, she was in surgery.

The neurosurgeon removed the mass and her first (C1) vertebrae during a surgery that took 7.5 hours to complete. She is currently in ICU at Cook Children’s Hospital, with plans to move her to the neuro floor.

It has been amazing to see how tough she is. She is able to have conversations, move all of her limbs, smile and laugh, but is incredibly nauseous as her brain adjusts to not having the tumor anymore. She is having double vision and still hasn’t been able to hold down solid food very well, but is progressing every day.

What does the future look like?

The medical team expects Adie to stay in the hospital for a total of 5-7 days. The mass has been sent off to pathology to determine what type it is. Her future treatments and follow-up care will vary greatly depending on the results.

At a minimum, Adie will have to follow up with a pediatric ophthalmologist and will have many MRI’s throughout her future to monitor her progress.

There is so much uncertainty of what the future holds for this sweet family; if we can help offset some of the financial worry during this time, it would allow them to purely focus on Adie and her health.
