Our daughter Adalynn was brought to walk-in care for what seemed like just a cough, but things quickly became much more serious. She was found to have pneumonia in her left lung and was transferred to Maine General in Waterville. There, blood tests revealed she was septic, and she was immediately started on IV antibiotics. Unfortunately, the bacteria has been resistant to treatment, and she also tested positive for RSV. Because of her diabetes, she was transferred to Bangor to be in the children's wing with her diabetes doctor overseeing her care.
My wife has had to stop working to be with Adalynn in the hospital, and I need to be home for our almost 3-year-old and our 8-year-old when he is home from school. This has left us relying on unemployment, which only covers so much. We are struggling to keep up with our mortgage, food, travel, heat, electric, and other essential bills while Adalynn is hospitalized. We also need to account for fees and the uncertainty of when my wife can return to work.
We are barely getting by and not knowing how we will pay our bills is overwhelming. But being here for our kids is our priority. Any support from our community would mean the world to us right now. Your help will make a real difference for our family as we navigate this difficult time.
