Abel Gonzalez Navarro was born in Mexico City. When Abel was 5 years old, his family emigrated to the United States, settling in Los Angeles, CA. From the third grade, Abel dreamed of becoming a veterinarian—he even wanted to treat dragons. His dream came true as he attended Cal Poly Pomona and UC Davis Veterinary School, graduating in 2009. Abel’s career eventually led him to Dutch Pet Health, where he practiced telemedicine and helped pets across the United States, providing care to animals who might not otherwise have access to a veterinarian. He was deeply honored to make a difference for so many families and their beloved pets.
Unfortunately, Abel’s life was cut short on February 5, 2026, at the age of 43. He was preceded in death by his mother, Socorro Navarro, and his dogs Cain, Ariel, and Luke. He is survived by his father Abel, his sister and brother-in-law Barbara and Erik Monclova, his partner Michael Cipriano, a multitude of friends, beloved co-workers, cousins, aunts and uncles, and his cats Daisy and Zelda. Abel’s passing is a tremendous loss to all who knew him.
Funds raised will be used to pay for cremation and memorial service expenses, as well as to help Abel’s family with costs related to his passing. Abel touched the lives of so many people and pets—not just in the veterinary world, but also through his work with Apple Fitness+, his love of cycling, travel, music, art, and video games. He made a lasting impact on everyone he met. Any support you can offer, whether through a donation or by sharing this fundraiser, is deeply appreciated by Abel’s family and loved ones.
