Hi friends and family,
We’re sharing this on behalf of Jonah and Abby Leeder during an incredibly unexpected and difficult season.
On November 22, Abby experienced a sudden medical emergency. Her water broke over a month early, and she began bleeding heavily. When she arrived at the hospital, things escalated quickly. She was rushed into an emergency C-section, and when the bleeding wouldn’t stop, doctors were forced to perform an emergency hysterectomy to save her life.
By God’s grace, Abby survived. She has since been discharged home and is recovering from a major, life-altering surgery, continuing to heal both physically and emotionally.
Their son, Ezra, was born critically ill on November 22. The placenta had detached, causing him to go without oxygen for an unknown amount of time. When he arrived at the hospital, he required more than five minutes of CPR before doctors were able to bring him back. His organs were struggling, his kidneys were injured, and there was a very real fear of severe brain damage.
Ezra has been in the NICU continuously since November 22, and as of December 15, he remains there. He has been fighting every step of the way. While there have been incredible signs of progress and hope, he still has a long road ahead. He continues to require specialized care, monitoring, and ongoing evaluations as doctors track his development and recovery.
This prolonged NICU stay has meant weeks away from work, ongoing travel expenses, mounting medical bills, and day-to-day costs, all while Jonah and Abby’s focus has been entirely on survival, healing, and caring for their son.
We are starting this GoFundMe to help ease some of the financial burden so Jonah and Abby can focus fully on what matters most right now: Abby’s recovery and Ezra’s care, without the added weight of financial stress.
Any support—whether financial, sharing this page, or continued prayers—means more than words can express. Thank you for loving and standing with them during this incredibly hard season.
With gratitude,
Hannah Leeder (Auntie)
