Hello, my name is Abbey and I'm trying to raise money to help with my medical bills.

I got into an awful bike accident at a friend's house. I was riding an electric bike, unfortunately without any protection. My thumb slipped and I accidentally went full speed while turning on gravel. I fell on an incline while trying to control the bike, and the left side of my face took majority of the damage. I had a few scratches on my shoulder, knee, and the palms of my hands had gravel in them. I have two front teeth chipped. I later found out I have fractured bones in the orbit of my eye and my cheek bone area. I lost 80% of my lower eye lid, and later got a skin graph. Thankfully, my vision seems to be fine in both eyes praise God!

The moment right after I fell, I was able to sit myself up. When I opened my eyes to look around I could only see out of my right eye because the left side of my face was extremely swollen especially around my left eye. My left bottom eye lid was completely torn and hanging. The inside of my top and bottom lips were torn up too, especially the bottom lip. I was spitting out blood and gravel. The left side of my face was completely numb at first. I was definitely in shock and adrenaline was threw the roof, but I was still self aware enough to know I needed to stay calm, so I did my best to do so. I called out to my friend, she came running down and helped me as best she could. I'm extremely grateful for her and her family for helping me through all of this, and everyone else that has helped and supported me.

I'm asking for help because I'm unsure how I'm going to cover the costs of the medical and dental bills. I had only turned 18 a week prior to the accident and have not been covered by insurance. Now I'm left with no choice but to cover everything by myself. I have had multiple surgeries done on my eye, as well as stitches around my nose, inside and outside of my mouth, and top of my eyebrow. Though I am still receiving treatment and I have an upcoming surgery scheduled, I am currently working part-time to start cutting down on the costs.
