Support for Aaron's accident recovery
Donation protected
Please help our dear friend Aaron with his medical expenses and recovery from a recent motorcycle accident. He is unfortunately without health insurance, and any and everything helps.
On Sunday, August 28th, Aaron was on his way home from work when he lost control of his motorcycle. Turning onto the dirt road that leads to his house in Valdez, New Mexico, he hit a patch of sand and spilled onto his left side, pinning his leg and breaking it in three places. While this is a road he has driven dozens of times, a change in road conditions occurred that same day when sand was dumped to cover the potholes. This unexpected variable caused him to lose traction and slip.
Luckily, Aaron was riding slow and wearing protective gear, both of which prevented his injuries from being far worse. On Wednesday, he received surgery to repair the broken tibia and fibula with the implant of a titanium rod and screws.
If you know Aaron, you know he leads an active lifestyle -- hiking, biking, and exercising are things he loves to do every day. His two jobs, working in a restaurant and in property management, also require him to be on his feet for the majority of the day.
As you can imagine, the physical, mental, and emotional toll of our situation is quite overwhelming. Unfortunately, however, it is the financial stress which seems most urgent. We are asking for a generous $35,000, and in the spirit of full transparency, here is an estimate of what this money would cover: The surgery alone cost us approximately $25,000; we have another $3,000+ mounting in emergency room expenses and medication costs; and Aaron's setback of 2-3 months unemployment adds to another approximate $8-10,000.
We are doing the best we can to stay optimistic and utilize our resources, but we also need support from our community during this difficult time. If you are able to spare any donation -- really, anything at all -- it will go further than you realize in helping Aaron get back on his feet.
Thank you so much for your love and support.
