Support for a Veteran’s Widow

Hi everyone — thank you for reading. My mom is an elderly, disabled widow in northeast Georgia. In January 2026, she lost her husband after complications from heart surgery. He was a retired U.S. Marine Corps Staff Sergeant and a 100% disabled veteran who devoted his life to our family and his country. Right now we’re in the hardest part: the grief is fresh, and the paperwork is relentless. He handled most of the bills and accounts, and after he passed we discovered a tangled financial mess — late notices, confusing autopays, accounts in limbo, and expenses stacking up at the exact moment her household income changed. We are actively working on survivor benefits and income replacement, but the process is slow. She took the very first Social Security appointment available — and it isn’t until March. Unfortunately, the mortgage company and utility companies don’t pause while you wait. This fundraiser is a temporary bridge to keep her stable and in her home while we get everything sorted and long-term income established. Donations will help cover: • Mortgage payments to prevent falling behind • Utilities (power, water, heat, phone) • Home/auto insurance • Groceries + basic necessities • Medical/prescription costs • Travel and admin costs for documents/appointments We’re not trying to fund a “new life.” We’re trying to protect the one she has — a roof over her head, heat on, and a little breathing room while we fight through this process. If you can donate or share, thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
