Support for a Veteran's Family in Crisis

As some of you may know , Our family is in desperate need of help. From March of last year all the way up to today, our family has been experiencing numerous hardships. From multiple surgeries stemming from my husband's service to our country, my husband being fired from his civilian job because his recovery time was too long, to myself being diagnosed with several chronic illnesses that affect our everyday life’s along with several other smaller things like flood damage, home AC going out, and the car breaking down. We do have faith God will help us through this time, but it has been extremely difficult.
My husband has two jobs, a truck driver and a paratrooper in the Army Reserves. In March of last year, he was severely injured during a jump with his unit. He completely severed his bicep tendon, tore his labrum, as well as other injuries. His shoulder was torn to pieces. This injury prevented him from doing his civilian job and required him to have surgery. The military took nearly 2 months to get him a surgery date and nearly 5 months before they started paying him. After surgery, it took him 9 months to fully recover. He got back to his civilian job, working as much as he could to get us out of the massive hole we found ourselves in due to going nearly 5 months with little to no income. He was only back at work for a week and a half before he was injured again. This time, he completely tore all the ligaments in his ankle, had two fractures, broke a dime-sized piece of bone off his ankle, and sheared his cartilage in his ankle nearly in half, requiring three screws to hold it back in place. The recovery period this time is estimated to be nearly 5 months long. The doctor said he must be non-weight bearing for 16 weeks, then he can begin physical therapy, which will be 4-6 weeks. One week after his ankle surgery, his civilian employer called him to let him know they were going to have to let him go because of how long he was going to be out on recovery. Since it is a right-to-work state, they can do that, and there is nothing we can do according to the attorney we spoke with. He is receiving workman’s compensation for being hurt at work, but it is only 60% of his normal pay, and because he was out of work for 9 months prior due to his shoulder surgery, it’s not even 60% of his full normal pay; it’s a small fraction that doesn’t even come close to paying the bills. Our savings are completely wiped out. We have sold everything we can spare to try and get by, my husband has even put his car up for sale to try and pay the bills so we don’t lose our home. The almost 5 months of missing military pay is held up by a ton of paperwork. Since it is a new fiscal year, he has to apply for incapacitation pay to get back pay for the missing months, which according to him, can take up to 6 months to get approved.
We are thankful God has helped us through this so far and we know He will continue to provide for our family. If you feel led to help, Even if it’s only $1, anything you could donate would be greatly appreciated. If you are unable to donate please share. Thank you for taking the time to read our story. May God bless you and your family.
