Support for a Veteran's Battle with Lung Cancer
Donation protected
I am here for an extremely selfish reason. My father (58 yr) was just hit with a lung cancer diagnosis. I spent 9 years in Iraq and Afghanistan through the infantry, then as a private security contractor, which led me to believe I was a resilient man capable of enduring, but I find myself feeling like a helpless boy faced with the mortality of my dad. There's no threat to advance on, no objective to take, just a hope that a doctor can perform a miracle.
With all that said, my father is a blue-collar vet, worked construction after leaving the Army to provide for his family, and now his greatest worry is how to financially provide for my mother during this, being the sole provider through manual labor.
As said in the beginning, this is a selfish ask.
Never having to ask for this kind of thing, I'm not sure how to do it, even more so how to do it and not feel like a "shitbag."
