My name is Brooke LaLone. I am a licensed marriage and family therapist, domestic violence survivor, single mother, and content creator & trauma-informed coach helping other survivors rebuild their lives after abuse.

Recently, I have been publicly advocating for the safety of children in my former school community - work that has connected me with over 100 survivors and community members, drawn the attention of law enforcement, and placed me at the center of an accountability effort that has been building for more than two decades.

This work matters. I believe it is the most important thing I have ever done.

It is also consuming my life in ways I did not fully anticipate.

As a content creator and trauma-informed coach, my income depends on my ability to show up consistently - to create, to publish, market, to serve my clients. Advocacy of this scale does not leave room for that in the way a sustainable business requires. I am managing incoming messages from survivors, coordinating with law enforcement, responding to institutional correspondence, and continuing to publish work that helps people understand how systems fail children and what we can do about it.

I am not asking for this to stop. I am asking for the support to do it without losing everything I have built.

The operational costs of continuing to publish, create, and show up for the community that has shown up for me

I did not choose this fight because it was convenient.... I chose it because someone had to and because the people who tried before me were silenced, ignored, and retaliated against. I have nothing to lose by telling the truth, and everything to gain by protecting the children who are still in that building right now.

I never thought I’d have to ask for help like this, but after months of unexpected challenges, I’m at a breaking point. As a single mom running my own therapy practice, I’ve worked hard to rebuild my life after financial abuse and divorce. But in the past couple of months, I’ve faced one hit after another—an office fire, flooding, severe weather closures, illness, unexpected expenses, and the time & costs of relocating to a new office—all of which have left me $3,000 short in lost income.

I have learned that time is truly money, & it is nearly impossible to be a fully present mother and business owner while in this situation. Now, I’m struggling to cover rent and basic expenses while keeping my practice afloat after this series of unfortunate events.
