Hi! This is Pearl's mom :) I adopted Pearl from Muttville Senior Dog Rescue in San Francisco in April of 2016. She was found stray, roaming a park in Santa Rosa. I can't imagine how long she was out there or how she ended up there. She was only 4lbs when found (up to a whopping and healthy 5 now!). Her estimated age when I adopted her was 15, which makes her almost 21 currently, a truly super senior!
Pearl's health has been improving since she came to her forever home. She loves sleeping in her cozy beds the most, but is also often noted as being "so spry" on our daily park and beach jaunts! She has had several dentals and mass removals in the past, as well as ultrasounds to track her heart murmur. She has a dental and mass removal coming up soon for a new lump that has formed on her spine. The lump is most likely a benign cyst. Still, we want to remove it for biopsy to make sure. considering she did have some malignant tumors removed when I first adopted her (likely formed from her never having been spayed until she came to Muttville- please spay and neuter your pets, folks!).
The upcoming vet expense for her dental and lump removal on March 25th is estimated to be between $3000-4000. I am an artist and art teacher who has been dealing with some human health issues this past year that have interrupted my regular working abilities. Pearl has so many loving friends who have expressed interest in offering support to her and me while we go through this. If you are in a position to donate even a small amount, we would be very grateful :) We don't want to make anyone feel pressured or like Pearl won't get the help she needs if they don't help - she is absolutely getting the dental and mass removal regardless of any external support. We are making this gofundme in order to have a space to direct folks who are interested in offering a small financial offering :) We also accept support in the form of a kind message or a loving thought towards Pearl <3
Thank you so much for checking out our page and learning more about Pearl! She is my dream come true and I hope she lives for another 21 years. She brings joy and laughter to everyone she meets, even her cat brother (my other senior pet who I have had for 16 years!) who she is very ferocious towards, but he doesn't mind.
With Love,
Pearl's mom and Pearl, who oversaw and approves of this message
