Hi, my name is Abigail. I am a single mother of a 6-year-old boy who is my entire world and the reason behind everything I do.
Have you ever had a dream you held onto for years? Since I was 17, I have dreamed of studying abroad. Twelve years later, I finally had the opportunity to come to Canada and pursue my master’s degree. It felt like everything I had worked for was finally becoming real. But sometimes reality is harder than we expect. During my time in Canada, I have faced many difficult challenges, including a painful separation, navigating life without a strong support system, and being diagnosed with depression and anxiety.
Despite these painful situations, I could not afford to stop. I continue working in cleaning jobs because they allow me to support my son while still being present for him and staying connected to my studies, even though they are currently paused. However, my income is unstable and not enough to cover both our basic needs and my education.
Because of this, my studies are currently on hold. I have tried to handle everything on my own—to stay strong and find solutions quietly—but I have reached a point where I need support. This is not just about me. It is about building a stable future for my son. Continuing my education would allow me to access better opportunities, achieve financial stability, and give him the life he deserves.
I am raising funds to cover essential expenses such as housing and part of my education, so I can regain stability, qualify for a student loan, and continue my studies.
