A 16-year-old Clayton Valley Charter High School student is fighting through a long recovery after being struck by a car on August 18. He was waiting on the sidewalk for his mother to pick him up after school on a side street off Clayton Road in Concord. His mother pulled up to this unimaginable and devastating scene with flashing lights and first responders preparing her only child for urgent transport to the closest trauma center.
Within a few hours after the incident, he underwent his first life-saving brain surgery. After additional surgeries and weeks in the local ICU, he was later transferred to a higher-level pediatric ICU hospital that specializes in traumatic brain injuries. He remains in the ICU and has undergone additional surgeries, with more in the future. Once he is able to leave the ICU, the hospital has an acute in-patient care rehabilitation facility with specialized medical staff to support the long and unknown road ahead.
Feeling powerless and wanting to help in any way possible while respecting the family's privacy, this fundraiser was started by the parents of the student’s best friends dating back to preschool. The goal is to ease the financial burden and support this family in crisis so his parents can stay focused on their son’s prolonged hospital stay, healing, and recovery.
Please keep this hard working, bright-minded, kindhearted teen in your prayers and send positive thoughts. If you are able, please consider donating and sharing this fundraiser.
Donations will help with:
Current and ongoing medical bills not covered by insurance; Prolonged and ongoing in-patient rehabilitation costs not covered by insurance; Transportation for the parents during hospital and rehab care; Meals and daily expenses during this prolonged stay
Because these needs continue over time for an unknown amount of time, recurring donations can provide steady support as his care and rehabilitation continue. However, one-time donations are sincerely and deeply appreciated also and will help ease the burden on his parents so they can focus on being there for their only child. Thank you for keeping this amazing young man and his family in your thoughts and for offering any support you can.
