Support for a film about Utila, Honduras!

Donation protected
Many close to me are aware of my history and love for the island of Utila, Honduras. This island has supported me and challenged me to grow in so many different ways over the years. It is a truly unique place. It is not an exaggeration to say that I wouldn’t be who I am today if I never accidentally stepped foot on the island when I was 18, during my first backpacking trip.

Many of you are probably also aware that I’ve spent much of the past 8 years in Calgary, Alberta working on various projects in film and television production. Funny enough, I only ever ended up in Calgary because of Utila. (shoutout to Amy Dyck) but I digress; this post isn’t about any of that.

This year, during my stay on Utila I have a different goal; I want to intertwine my love for this island with my passion for filmmaking. I want to tell a story about Utila; this community- and specifically about the people who find themselves here- whether that be for a moment, a decade, or a lifetime. I am particularly interested in telling the stories of local people, which is why I am reaching out to you now.

My goal is to interview around 40 people from a variety of backgrounds. I would like to be able to offer around $20 USD per interview. I will also need to hire a Spanish translator to assist me in some of these interviews.

***If there is any money left over, it will be donated to Jaspers Animal Shelter and school in Utila to help with education for the upcoming generations.***

I am including the following information only to help you understand that I’m not trying to raise funds for equipment, and most importantly I want to make it clear that I have *absolutely no intentions of profiting monetarily in any way from anything to do with this project*.

After spending the better part of 2024 working long hours working in film production in Calgary (those who know, know), I decided to dedicate a portion of my savings to invest in some filmmaking equipment. (This included a Sony a6700 camera, a couple lens sizes, a Ronin gimbal, DJI mini pro 4, DJI action osmo 5, and some accessories like mics, a couple small lights, external monitor, hard drives etc.) I made an effort to invest in some decent equipment so that I can bring a finished product that is of high quality.

If you are in a place to be able to consider donating, any amount will be greatly appreciated and not forgotten!

If you aren’t in a place where you’re able to donate, but you would like to support this project it would also be helpful if you would consider sharing this post!

Thank you for taking the time to read. Have a wonderful day and a beautiful life ❤️
