A family in our school community is going through a difficult and uncertain time, and we’re asking for help with the everyday expenses that can’t wait.

Earlier this week, the father of one of our students was detained by ICE on his way to work. He is now being held at the Northwest Detention Center. His partner is pregnant and caring for their children, including a toddler, while facing the sudden loss of the family’s only income.

The family is still learning what legal options may be available, and they don’t know how long he will be away. In the meantime, they need to pay rent, buy groceries, and care for their children.

We’re raising money to help cover the family’s basic needs over the next few months, including housing, food, utilities, transportation, diapers, and essentials for the baby on the way. Funds will also help support the father’s commissary account so he can purchase basic items while detained, and cover legal costs if the family is able to secure an attorney.

Our hope is to give them some financial breathing room and help keep daily life as steady as possible for the children. That means helping preserve familiar routines and making room for the things they enjoy—like the crafting, painting, and knitting their daughter loves—while the family navigates what comes next.

We can’t answer all the questions this family is facing, but we can help with the next grocery trip, the next rent payment, and the things their children need. These are practical ways our school community can show up for them right now.
