My name is Job Garcia, a U.S. citizen. On June 19, 2025, I was violently arrested by ICE at the Hollywood Home Depot in Los Angeles. My arrest went viral. I was arrested along with 30 undocumented immigrants.
Before the moments that led to me being blindsided and several federal agents on top of me with their knees to my back and neck area, I attempted to help two individuals who were being handcuffed by informing them to remain silent and that they have rights.
I was placed in the same van with these individuals. One of them was deported just a couple days after. He left behind his wife who at the time was six months pregnant. The other was taken to a detention center. I thought I would never hear from any of them again.
Fortunately, after 6 months of being detained, the second person was released after paying an immense amount to be bailed. He messaged me to inform me of his release and to thank me for a shared video I recorded of his and his partner’s arrest because it helped in a judge granting bond.
The large sum he had to pay for his bail left him and his family in a fragile financial state. Additionally, he is uncertain of his future and doesn’t know when he will return to work or if he will be allowed to do so. I promised to help him and his family with at least a humble donation for basic necessities like groceries. I am hoping that other kind people would want to partner with me to support him and his family. Thank you in advance for your generosity. Only we can collectively help protect and provide for him!
He shared with me a photo he took with his daughter after his release. I asked if I can share it and reveal his identity but he asked to remain anonymous for now until he knows and feels safe to do so. As soon as he does so, I will give you all an update and disclose his identity.
