I am starting this GoFundMe on behalf of my niece and her family as they face an unimaginable tragedy. Her husband recently suffered a sudden cardiac arrest and was rushed to the hospital as a result of excessive force before and while in police custody where he sustained severe brain damage that resulted into death. He leaves behind his loving wife and five beautiful children who depended on him every day. They have been together since November 2007; high school sweethearts who built a life rooted in love, loyalty, and deep understanding, and have been married for 12 beautiful years.

For 12 years, he worked as a dedicated cement mason and construction worker, always putting in the hard work to provide for his family. He was a man of wisdom with a kind heart, someone who always had something positive to say and could lift your spirits no matter the situation. With a warm, genuine smile and an energy people naturally gravitated toward, he brought comfort and light to those around him. He was a loving father, a devoted husband, and a true family man who put his loved ones above everything. He was also an artist at heart who enjoyed drawing in his free time, with a laid-back personality and a strong drive to succeed.

Even in this heartbreaking loss, his selflessness continues to shine. He made the incredible decision to donate his organs, saving the lives of four people and giving others a second chance at life.
