Support for a Diabetic Alert Dog
Donation protected
I am a 27-year-old who has been living with Type 1 Diabetes for 15 years strong. I am a fitness instructor and love pushing others and myself to conquer hard things. I always been a diabetic who has never let this chronic issue stop me from pushing my limits.
However, it's really challenging. It's always been a goal of mine to one day get a Diabetic Alert Dog to help make diabetes a bit easier to manage. I have a Dexcom that has made diabetes a bit easier but there are a lot of technology issues that come with this. My last straw was a few months ago my blood sugar dropped to below 20 mg/dl during the night where my Dexcom failed to wake me thinking my blood sugar was normal when it was not, and I currently live on my own. I almost did not wake up that night. Having a Diabetic alert dog will make my life so much easier with handling this chronic disease which truly never takes a day off its a 24/7 around the clock.
This money that will be fundraised will go to getting a retriever that will be trained by Bowen Elite Service Dogs where it costs 32,000 to get a dog fully trained in 14 months and includes travel costs to get the dog once trained. This also will help goes toward the 6,000 deposit required to start the process.
Any amount counts here and I can't thank you enough for helping make my life much better with this chronic illness.
