Support for a Designer in Need

If you’re a designer.
If you’re single.
If you’re gay.
If you’ve built a beautiful life on your own.
This could be your story too.
My friend was one of the brightest lights in the design industry. He ran a successful interior design firm in Los Angeles, collaborated with respected brands, launched product lines, and had a sharp, funny voice that carried through his blog and brand deals. He was discerning, deeply talented, and full of charm. People were drawn to him. Clients adored him. Designers respected him.
Then came the injury.
A back problem turned into surgery. The surgery left him worse off. As a type 1 diabetic with a severe allergy to steroids, his body began to fail him. There were more surgeries, more complications, more loss. He lost his mobility. He lost his home. He lost his career. Eventually, he ran out of places to land.
Today, he is in a long-term, state-run nursing facility. His parents are gone. His remaining family cannot support him. He has no home to return to. And no means to rebuild.
This is not a fundraiser for a comeback story.
This is about giving dignity to someone who spent his life giving beauty to others.
He needs toiletries. A decent wheelchair. Comfortable clothes. Things many of us take for granted every day.
He deserves to be cared for. Not because he was successful, not because he was talented, but because he is human. And because no one should disappear quietly after giving so much beauty to the world.
We talk a lot in this industry about community. Now is the time to show what that really means.
Please give if you can. Share if you will. Let’s surround him with the comfort, respect, and love he should never have had to go without. We don’t leave one of us behind like this.
Because this could be any of us.
