Support for a Caregiver & Bedridden Marine
Our Dad is a father of five, a husband, a former U.S. Marine, and a man who has spent his life caring for others. He raised his children after losing his wife to cancer at a young age, and he did it with strength, love, and determination.
Now nearly 90, Our Dad is bedridden after a stroke nearly 10 years ago and is also facing the effects of dementia. He needs daily care and ongoing medical support, and his daughter Deana has taken on the role of primary caregiver while also working full-time. I travel monthly to help, but she carries the weight of the responsibility.
Even through the fog of memory loss, there are moments of clarity—and in those moments, he expresses gratitude. He knows what’s being done for him. He knows who is there.
And he always says the same thing: “I wouldn’t be able to do this without her.”
He’s talking about my sister. My sister has become his full-time caregiver while still working a full-time job.
She manages:
• Doctor’s appointments
• Nurses, physical therapy, and occupational therapy
• Medications
• Meals and daily care
• Hygiene and cleaning
She has become his lifeline.
Despite working through the VA system and medical insurance, support has been limited. We are actively reaching out to Alzheimer’s and dementia organizations for assistance, but there are still major gaps.
Your support will go directly toward necessary daily care items. We are asking for help to cover essential care items like diapers, wipes, incontinence supplies, bed pads, and other medical needs. Any donation, large or small, will help ease the financial strain and support our dad’s comfort and dignity.
These are not one-time costs—they are ongoing, daily necessities.
This Marine spent his life taking care of others - his family, his country, and everyone around him. Now it’s our turn to take care of him.
If you are unable to give, sharing this campaign would mean a great deal to our family. Your support will help give our father comfort, dignity, and the care he needs in this season of life. It will also give my sister some relief from the financial and physical burden she has carried for far too long.
Thank you for standing with our family. Every dollar helps. Every share matters.
