Help a First-Gen Burmese Fight Cancer with Research
Donation protected
My family comes from Burma (Myanmar), a country that has endured continuous conflict for over 75 years. We came to the United States seeking better opportunities, but growing up in a low-income household with parents who spoke little English presented many challenges. Without a strong community to rely on, I learned to find and create my own opportunities.
Science became a driving force in my life. Personal experiences — including losing loved ones to cancer, living without health insurance, and navigating healthcare as a disabled person — shaped my commitment to making healthcare more accessible and inclusive.
I was recently accepted into the University of Florida’s Student Science Training Program (SSTP), a highly selective scientific research program for high school students. SSTP offers college-level seminars and laboratory research experience, providing access to opportunities that have historically been out of reach.
Through this program, I aim to explore ways to integrate modern scientific research with traditional medicine, working toward more affordable and equitable healthcare solutions, especially for underserved communities like Burma.
Any support will go directly toward making this opportunity possible.
Thank you for considering contributing to this next step in my scientific and academic journey!
