Support for 10-Year-Old Ahmed's Battle with Epilepsy

Salaam Alaikum,

We, the small Muslim community in the La Marque & Texas City within the Houston, TX metro area, would like to appeal to the goodness and mercy of you all to help a local Muslim family in need.

The Salahuddin Family is a family in La Marque, TX; a town in between Houston and Galveston, which includes the patriarch and grandfather of the family, Elder/Bro. Abdul Salahuddin. Until recently, as the main custodian of Masjid Al-Fattah, Elder/Bro. Salahuddin has been praying at the masjid by himself for Fajr and, in most cases, Isha, for almost 13 years. His son, the resident Imam Sheikh Bilal Salahuddin, who is a native of Texas City, TX, just came back a little over 2 years ago from living and studying in Egypt. Sheikh Bilal never misses a jummah and relentlessly leads Fajr and Isha prayers. Though the Imam has a source of earning to make ends meet, due to the small masjid community, he is not paid a salary from the masjid and unfortunately, does not have health insurance for himself and his family. This devoted husband, father of ten, and community member needs our support for one of his sons, Ahmed.

Ahmed is 10 years old and until yesterday, was a perfectly healthy, happy kid full of joy with an amazing sense of humor. Ahmed, who's shy at first but full of silly, funny jokes once you get to know him, is known as a sweetheart amongst his friends and classmates.

On August 28th, 2024, Ahmed suffered a series of four unprovoked seizures. In a panic, Ahmed’s parents rushed him to the hospital and there in the emergency room, he experienced a 5th major seizure. As any parent can imagine, this is a terrifying experience to witness your child go through and feel completely unable to help. Under the care of wonderful and dedicated doctors, nurses, and staff at UTMB, Ahmed was stabilized. After rigorous testing, the doctors finally determined that he has epilepsy and will begin care for him to learn more specifics as well as assign the appropriate treatment plan, inshallah.

Children with seizure disorders, in particular epilepsy, can lead full lives as we should not allow this condition and test to debilitate him. With continued treatment and care from professionals, with the Creator’s will, Ahmed can have his childhood. Please, consider giving whatever you possibly can to support Ahmed's treatments so that he can enjoy the bright future ahead of him that he and all children deserve to have.
