Hi, my name is Diana Moreno, and I’m organizing this fundraiser on behalf of my dear friend Fonda Dortch-Taylor, who was recently diagnosed with a rare and serious autoimmune disease called Anti-MDA5 Dermatomyositis.
This is a rare and aggressive subtype of dermatomyositis that affects the skin, muscles, and lungs and can lead to life-threatening complications. It requires specialized, ongoing care, yet access to this care has been a constant struggle.
Fonda is in her 25th year of teaching. She has always been the heart of the school community and is known for staying late, taking on countless tasks, and doing whatever it takes to ensure the scholars and fellow educators feel supported, seen, and empowered. Her selfless commitment has touched hundreds of lives.
Now, she needs us.
She has exhausted all of her sick time and is currently unable to work. To make matters worse, her insurance has denied coverage for several critical, life-saving treatments, including a wound vac needed to treat painful skin ulcers. The financial burden has become overwhelming.
I’m raising funds to help cover her hospital bills, ongoing treatments, essential medications, wound care, and everyday living expenses. No one should have to battle a devastating illness while worrying about money or being denied care.
Your support, whether through a donation or by sharing this campaign, will help relieve some of the pressure and allow her to focus on what matters most: healing.
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for standing with her now, just as she has stood with so many others throughout her life.
