My name is Frank, and I am the creator of FOL (Functional Object Lisp), a project born from the question: Can a CLOS-based object system exist within an immutable functional language like Clojure? Through early development, I discovered that not only is this possible, but the combination of these paradigms leads to innovative software patterns that neither Common Lisp nor Clojure can easily express on their own. This synergy has the potential to open new doors in programming language design and software architecture.
FOL has been developed, tested, and documented with the help of large language models (LLMs), allowing for rapid progress and high-quality results. However, to continue this work and expand FOL’s capabilities, I need support to cover ongoing LLM fees and to access even more advanced AI tools. These resources are essential for further coding, testing, and documentation, ensuring that FOL can reach its full potential.
I am sharing this GoFundMe on my GitHub page and will continue to promote FOL within the Lisp programming community, especially among Common Lisp and Clojure developers, through social media and at talks and conferences. Your support will help push the boundaries of programming language design and make FOL a reality. Thank you for considering a contribution!
