Support Flo, Florence Huffman's Cancer Battle

Please support my niece “Flo” Florence Huffman who is battling cancer.

If you know Flo, you know the warmth and joy she brings into every room. Her laughter is contagious, her kindness is heartfelt, and she has always been a source of light and love for those around her. She means the world to our family, and now, she needs our help.

On February 12, Florence went to her nurse practitioner with concerns about unexpected weight gain and a hardened abdomen. A CT scan was scheduled, and soon after, she received a call that would change everything—a “substantially large” mass had been found in her abdomen. She was told to go to the ER immediately.

Further tests confirmed the worst, and Flo was admitted to Dallas Methodist Hospital, where surgeons removed a 12-pound tumor along with all of her reproductive organs. Yes…I said 12 pounds! After a biopsy, she was diagnosed with Mucinous Adenocarcinoma, a fairly aggressive form of cancer. Because the mass was found on the outside of her ovary, doctors are still concerned that the cancer may have spread to surrounding organs.

While still healing from major abdominal surgery, Flo bravely began her first round of chemotherapy on March 26, enduring both infusion treatments and oral medications.

This has been a heartbreaking, life-altering journey for Flo, her children, and all of us who love her dearly. Through it all, she has remained strong, grateful, and full of faith, but the reality is that the financial burden is growing. She has been unable to work, and her last paycheck was less than half of what she normally earns. The bills—both medical and everyday expenses—are piling up.

Flo is determined to return to the classroom on May 5th, to teach Algebra at Fossil Ridge High School. She will push through treatment as best as she can, but she shouldn’t have to do it alone.
