My name is Abria, I am asking for help for my best friend’s family. Arianna and I have grown up together. We’ve been through many of life’s ups and downs by each other’s side. She has always been a safe space for me and I want to step up to be one for her. Her family pet flopsy fell suddenly ill, requiring emergency vet visits, round the clock care and the price of these visits are still on the rise as flopsy is still not out of the woods. Flopsy is a love bug whose affection is contagious. Flopsy is our 3-year-old black-furred, green-eyed girl with the silliest personality and the softest heart. We rescued her off the street, and she quickly became family, especially to our 8-year-old daughter. (Even her dog brother loves her!)

Recently, Flopsy was diagnosed with hemolytic anemia, a life-threatening condition that came on suddenly and without warning. She spent three days in the ICU, where she needed a blood transfusion and aggressive steroid and antibiotic treatment just to survive. Until this, she was a perfectly healthy, happy young cat.

Flopsy is more than a pet…she’s our best friend. She follows me from room to room, makes us laugh daily, and every single night she sleeps with our daughter, who struggles to fall asleep on her own. Flopsy is her comfort, her routine, and her safe place.

When we learned the cost of Flopsy’s life-saving care, we were heartbroken. Our daughter immediately offered her piggy bank and even suggested standing outside to collect donations “like the cheerleader teams do.” Instead, we explained that we could share Flopsy’s story online and ask for help that way.

The truth is, Flopsy’s care has already been overwhelming and will continue to be costly. She will need ongoing vet visits and blood work every two weeks for at least the next two months to monitor her condition and keep her stable.
