Support Flood Relief in Malaysia & Philippines

On December 12, 2021 Typhoon Odette (Rai) hit Malaysia and swept through the Philippines. We are raising emergency funds for areas in Malaysia and the Philippines affected by Typhoon Odette (Rai).  We are Sarah Barzak & Marie Sotto, a duo of Toronto-based Southeast Asian artists with ancestral ties to these lands. Typhoon Odette has decimated masses of cities and regions across South East Asia, the damage has been catastrophic. 

 

This is not the first time natural disaster has struck these regions; this crisis is compounded by the pandemic, and ongoing state violence exacted on poor and marginalized groups. We hope to mobilize efforts to support those on the ground living in the wake of the disaster.

 

Together, we aim to raise $6000.00 CAD and intend to divide the funds 50/50 between our beloved motherlands. In recognizing our transnational privilege, we are engaging our networks & communities to humbly ask for collective support to meet our goal during these tumultuous times.
