The Finger Lakes New Works Festival is a creative arts organization dedicated to showcasing new works and supporting artists. As we enter our second season, we are excited to present a robust offering of fresh, innovative performances that highlight the talent and creativity within the Finger Lakes community and beyond.

This year, our goal is to ensure that every artist involved in FLNWF is fairly compensated for their contributions. The funds raised through this campaign will go directly toward artist fees, helping us recognize and reward the hard work and passion that make our season possible. By supporting FLNWF, you are investing in the future of the arts and empowering creators to continue sharing their gifts.

We invite you to join us in making this season a success. Your generosity will have a direct impact on the artists who bring our new works to life. Thank you for believing in FLNWF and for helping us build a vibrant and compelling season.

This year the these exciting projects will be supported.

Lilies the Musical
Creator/Director Gavin Mayer
Composer/Lyricist Eric Leigh

Lilies the Musical is set in a Quebec prison in 1952, where Bishop Jean Bilodeau is called to hear the confession of Simon Doucet, a dying inmate who has been imprisoned for 40 years. However, Simon has a different plan for Bilodeau. He enlists his fellow inmates to perform a musical set in 1912, during their youth in Roberval, Quebec, when Bilodeau and Simon were childhood friends.

The all-male cast of prisoners take on both male and female roles, hoping to reveal the mystery surrounding Vallier's death, a young man with whom Simon was romantically involved. As the musical unfolds, we learn that Bilodeau had repressed feelings for Simon and was jealous of his relationship with Vallier. When Vallier’s mother dies, young Bilodeau seizes the moment to try and win Simon for himself. In a pivotal scene, a fire breaks out in the attic where Vallier and Simon are hiding, forcing Bilodeau to decide who lives and who dies.

By the end of the musical, it becomes clear that Simon did not call Bilodeau to confess but rather to force the bishop to confront his own past and confess his role in Vallier’s tragic fate.

NYU Argentinian-Romanian-American student, Andrea, is determined to explore her Argentinian roots despite her mom's reluctance to discover her own deep connection to Los Desaparecidos and Abuelas de Plaza de Mayo. Who is Andrea's real Abuela: Clara, who disappeared in Buenos Aires during the Military Junta, or Beatriz, who raised Andrea's mother, Mariana? Andrea's father, Bogdan, an immigrant who escaped a dictatorship that persecuted gay people in Romania, is on Andrea's side. Bloodlines and lifelines collide and intersect in this story about four generations of women and their role in shaping histories/her-stories.
