My son Fletcher has always been passionate about video games, skateboarding, and cars. He was born with Pierre Robin Syndrome, which means he’s faced challenges like a small lower jaw, cleft palate, and upper airway obstruction since infancy. Over the years, Fletcher has undergone several procedures, and now, at 18, he’s just had major surgeries to move his lower jaw forward and align his upper jaw. These procedures are crucial for his airway, speech, eating, and appearance. We’re currently at Shriners Craniofacial Center in Oak Park, Illinois, where Fletcher is recovering well and staying positive despite the pain and long hospital stay.
As a single mother, I am Fletcher’s only caretaker, and I’ve had to take at least three weeks off work to be by his side. While we are incredibly grateful that Shriners Hospital has covered the cost of his surgeries, I am struggling to cover our everyday living expenses, rent, bills, and medical supplies and cost of flights for follow up appointments during this time without my regular income. My parents have stepped in to help with travel and daily costs, even though they are retired and using credit to support us. I hope to pay them back when I’m able, but right now, we’re all stretched thin.
We’re asking for support to help us get through this critical recovery period. Every contribution will go toward keeping our home stable, covering essential bills, and making sure Fletcher has everything he needs as he heals. Your kindness will make a real difference for our family as we navigate this challenging time together.
