Fletcher is a 7 year old boy who has been diagnosed with Primary HLH (Hemophagocytic Lymphohistiocytosis) which is a rare, life-threatening and aggressive disease. Primary HLH is a genetic condition in which his own blood cells are inappropriately attacking his own organs and other blood cells.
Fletcher has been on chemotherapy and high dose steroids at Children's on the HOT (hematology oncology transplant) unit since being diagnosed in July, with the hope of calming down the hyper-inflammatory process caused by HLH. He will need a bone marrow transplant in the next couple weeks, from his younger sister, Mackenzie who is a match. He will then be hospitalized at Children's for months until he is cleared to recover at home. Once home, he will remain in isolation for months and will not return to school this year.
Thank you to everyone who has been so generous to provide meals, rides, donations, gifts, messages and prayers! We appreciate all of the support so much!
