Since we rescued him in 2019, my chihuahua Flash has brought so much love and joy to my family. We have been so fortunate to have him in our lives and to have been able to give him a loving home after he endured unspeakable abuse and life as a stray. He is particularly close to my mother. He is always by her side, and she definitely sees him as her baby.

Unfortunately, as he has gotten older in age, Flash has suffered from heart issues. This past Wednesday, we noticed that his breathing became really labored and he appeared to be in a lot of pain. We took him to the emergency vet and he was diagnosed with heart failure. He has been fighting for his life as we try to determine if and how he can get through this.

On top of this, we are faced with a bill that will amount to over $4,000. My mother is on disability and her income is not nearly enough to cover the bill. My partner and I are helping her as much as we can, but this astronomical cost is another level of difficulty we have been facing in these incredibly hard few days. We would be so grateful for any support, as every little bit helps.
