This is Fizzarolli!
I rescued him for my birthday and he’s the sweetest boy I ever could have asked for. He was rescued from the streets and lost an eye to a terrible infection. Unfortunately he also came with a laundry list of ailments that I wasn’t expecting, and that no one could have predicted.
In a month he’s been to the vet almost half a dozen times and was diagnosed with gingivitis, a double ear infection, an upper respiratory infection that 3 weeks of antibiotics couldn’t touch, followed by a herpes diagnoses and an antiviral course (which he hates, poor thing), and last but not least, ring worm, which meant 3 weeks of anti fungal pills and a total of 5 weeks quarantine. He also has an unknown skin infection in his groin now and a wound on his shoulder that won’t heal from him biting at a ring worm spot.
I have been vigorously cleaning his space to keep contamination down and do my best to give him a chance at testing negative for the follow up ringworm culture that he has scheduled in a week, and he’s now wearing a little bodysuit so that he cannot irritate his healing skin. He’s also back on antibiotics and is getting nose drops for the congestion and nasal discharge.
All of this has been very expensive, and it’s sent my utilities bill up with all the loads of laundry I’ve been doing with hot water, and extra showers I’ve been taking with anti fungal soap to help my own ringworm spots after I caught the fungus from him.
When we rescue an animal we are signing up for any eventuality, and I would never send him back because of his medical issues but I really wasn’t expecting all this. I’ve wiped out the saving I had set aside for a new pet, and I’m asking for community help at this time.
If you can spare anything it would be a great help to us! All I want is for this boy to be well, and to be out of quarantine for Christmas.
