Support Fi's Journey to Temple University
Donation protected
Thank you for taking time out of your day to read my story, share my fundraiser, or donate. It means a lot to me, and I truly appreciate the community I have made.
My name is Fi, and I have been out of work since being laid off in September 2024. Since then, I have re-entered school and will be graduating from the Community College of Philadelphia at the end of the summer and transferring to Temple University for their accelerated bachelor's + master’s program in the fall of 2025.
I am crowd funding to cover my rent for April, my past due gas bill, and remaining utilities for April. My unemployment funds will exhaust on March 25th and I haven’t had any luck finding employment over the winter; however, I have many personal & professional connections that have been working diligently to support me in making sure I acquire employment by May (or earlier!).
Not having to worry about rent will allow me to use what small savings I have to cover medical expenses and food (I was denied food stamps and insurance, so I am currently uninsured), and other basic necessities for April until I’m employed.
I was also denied LIHEAP and any other utility support because unemployment gave me a few dollars over the programs income limits. I can’t get health insurance via Pennie because the income from unemployment makes my monthly payments unrealistic for me.
